The μChiller Controller manages air/water and water/water chillers and heat pumps. Manages up to 2 compressors per circuit (On/Off or BLDC), up to a maximum of 2 circuits (using an expansion board for the 2nd circuit). The μChiller controller is a distinctive and complete controller for high-efficiency units through integrated management of electronic expansion valves and brushless BLDC compressors.

New “Legacy” part numbers for mCH2 SE phase-out support

To best support and facilitate the phase-out of mCH2 SE, three new part numbers
are now available, in which Carel has implemented a series of functions to cover
the unit configurations managed by mCH2 SE.
Specifically, the following unit configurations have been introduced to these
models, called Legacy:

  • Air/air unit (cooling only and reverse cycle units)
  • Condensing unit (cooling only and reverse cycle units)

The references are the unit configurations in the mCH2 SE manual, chapters 3.1,
3.2, 3.8, 3.9, 3.10 and 3.11 (manual ref. +030220426 - rel. 2.6 - 08/07/2019).

The functions implemented concern:

  • Management of low pressure switch from digital input
  • System pump burst, system pump activation (at regular intervals)
  • Light defrost: defrost function with compressors off, based on outside temperature value.
  • Disable evaporation pressure/temperature probe. On A/W or W/W chillers in cooling mode, frost protection is managed based on the evaporator outlet water temperature. The frost protection function is managed both with a single evaporator and with two separate evaporators.

App update with:

a) Management of new unit configurations
b) Parameters to be configured for compatibility with mCH2 SE. On the “Legacy” models, a new menu is available with specific parameters for the functions implemented, in order to support the phase-out of mCH2 SE.

IMPORTANT: The new Legacy part numbers do not allow plug & play replacement of mCH2 SE, as the two products have different connectors and number of inputs/outputs. Legacy products are software support to manage unit configurations and functions available on mCH2 SE and not available on the new product.

The µChiller range on specific model comes with wireless connectivity with NFC (Near Field Communication.) as standard, as well as Bluetooth, allowing interaction with mobile devices using the CAREL “APPLICA” app, making it easier to configure parameters and commission the unit in the field.
